  • Notes
    • For many years, the family researchers of Jesse Dennis [b. 1803], searched the lines of a Samuel Dennis in KY. The following line-known as the Samuel Sr. and Samuel Jr., line: William Dennis b. 30 Mar. 1714 Cornwall, ENG.
      son- Samuel G. Dennis, Sr. b. 1735 -1829 VA. USA; d. 1820 Morgan Co., KY
      1. Mary Ann Dennis b. 1755 Halifax, VA;
      2. Samuel G. Dennis, Jr. b. 4 Jun. 1757 Amherst Co., VA.; d. 23 Sept. 1820 Franklin Co., KY.
      Our Dennis DNA project has proven the above line not valid as ancestral line of our Jesse Dennis. The Morgan Church records show the following data on a Samuel G Dennis: born 1757 VA; Died 1820 Franklin County KY. The marriage date matches the date of our Samuel's marriage to Mary Yoakum.
      Given what we know about this Samuel Dennis, Jr.s' history, and what DNA evidence has provided, it would seem that this is not possible. If we must assume a Samuel is in our Ancestry, this Samuel born 1766, son of John Sims Dennis is a more accurate selection. We do not know and at this time cannot prove that this Samuel is in fact the father of Jesse Dennis but do know that DNA says the descendants of Jesse belong in to the Dennis /Tennison line.
